"Our inability to see beauty doesn't suggest in the slightest that beauty is not there.
Rather, it suggests that we are not looking carefully enough or with broad enough perspective to see the beauty" - Rabbi Harold Kushner
Happy New Year!
Whew…..it was such a busy holiday season that I'm just now catching my breath (you too I'm sure).
We had our foster daughter, Niki, with us from Armenia, and every free moment that I had I spent with her. We really had so much fun and it was a holiday to remember. I did a lot of things that I don't normally do - like going to a mall and shopping ( I really do dislike shopping of any kind - I know, that's pretty un-American of me isn't it). But it was good to be in touch with so much humanity, and to see the expressions on people's faces…sadness, joy, boredom, anger. I'm really inspired by people's faces, regardless of what they look like, I can always find beauty in them.
This Sunday at 11AM I'll be back at Celebration of Life Church in Irving leading the music. Come and join me! You can google them for directions.
In Febuary I'll be leading four classes on "Re-connecting with Soul" for women, at Arapaho United Methodist Church in Richardson. If you have any interest in attending, email me and I'll give you the details.

Art N Soul of North Texas
Meet Dallas artist Kelly Brown, aka Local Honey.
Visual artist, writer, musician and teacher, Kelly is also the creator of Local Honey. a forum where she blends visual art and music. As Kelly puts it, "Local Honey is dedicated to cross pollinating the works of independent artists - creating buzz".
Kelly has played at Telluride New Folk Festival, and Kerrville Folk Music Festival, toured with David Bowie as an opening act and performed with Bonnie Raitt and Sarah McLachlan.
Today we talk about:
-Kelly's recovery from the "music business" and her rebirth back into the joy
of creativity.
-The vulnerability of an artist and how people are missing the point when
they tell an artist not to be so "thin-skinned".
-How she responds when someone points to someone else's creative work and says
"I can do that!".
To find out more about Kelly and Local Honey, go to
www.localhoney.org To experience Local Honey, you just have to go to a show because there's no way to really explain it.
To hear the episode, go to www.artandsoulofnorthtexas.org and be sure and forward this email to people who you think would enjoy hearing it. Thanks to your "word of mouth", Art N Soul's listening audience had grown well beyond D/FW!!
And as always, I wish you more beauty in your life.
